Alex and Alayne's Quick Connection

Report from Alayne's Dr. Appointment yesterday.

Lets just put it this way, we are confirmed for a 5:00 C-Section this evening, June 30th. The baby had not progressed at all, if anything it sounded like he or she might have decided to go back a little, ;-) .

So here are the details, we will check in to the hospital today at 3:00 and are currently scheduled to start surgery at 5:00. However, since our situation is not a emergency we can be bumped to later in the evening if someone comes in with a emergency. So hopefully be able to update the website sometime Friday.

Alayne and I are both very excited to head in today and allow Tia to become "BIG SISTER". Last night Alayne got a new double stroller for Tia to share with her new sibling. It is a big hit with Tia, last night was going from one side of the stroller to the other side, wonder how her little brother/sister will like that? Boy how Tia's world is about to change, but all for the better!

Please keep Alayne and the baby in your prayers.

God Bless,

Alex, Alayne, Tia, Darby and soon to be named baby....

Boy or a Girl??? The time is near

Well, we are within a few days of delivery and we wanted to let you know the results of the poll question, Boy or Girl? On June 1st we put the poll question out, which asked what we were going to have; Boy, Girl or "of course it will be a Girl Alex is the dad! So as of today, June 29; It is a tie... well it was a tie, until Alayne used the "mom to be" trump card and voted "of course it will be a girl, Alex is the dad". So now the results are... girl 18 and boys 17. Thank you to everyone for participating in our poll, we had a lot of fun watching the votes come in. And to those who didn't vote, you can always put a comment below and tell us what you think.

Within a few days we should know. We go into the Dr. this afternoon to see how the baby is progressing... we shall know more soon.

We'll keep everyone posted.

First Sprint Triathlon in the books

Two Saturdays ago I completed my first sprint triathlon in Issaquah, WA. Many of you might be saying, "What Alex did a race, why"? I wondered the same thing as I woke up on that Saturday morning at 4:45am. But then I remembered, I didn't want to be known as "No-Show" on my first Triathlon and John (friend/co-worker) had "challenged" me to do the race with him.

Nothing like a little old fashioned "name calling" to get a guy out on the race course. Really it wasn't that bad, and I am glad that John did "ask" me to do the race with him. With his coaching and motivating skills I was able to get myself ready in about 2 weeks to finish the race. Of course I didn't ride the bike more than 6 miles before the 14.5 mile bike portion and barely could swim a 1/4 mile, but still was able to finish. This was a great excuse to do something during my lunch workouts besides run, now I have a reason to swim and ride the bike.

I had a great time and am now looking to compete in more of these, if I can find time with baby #2 due in 3 weeks. I finished the race in 1:35:30, not the best, but I'll take it. Need to work on the transition time in the swim to bike area and also on the biking aspect, but overall I had a lot of fun and am glad I did it.

Finishing the race at 1:35:30 (1/4 mile swim/ 14.5 mile bike/ 3.5 mile run)

Boy or a Girl?

We are now 1 month away from the "official" due date for Alayne and I.

We have not found out what we will be having and would like to know what you think. So be sure and take a look at the poll on the left and we'll post the results in a few weeks, if you'd like to see the interim results you can click "view stats" under the vote now button.

Also, in case you don't know currently there are 3 grand daughters on the "Johnson" side of the family; Anneli (5 years old), Martina (2 years old) and Tia (16mo old).
