GE Crotonville, NY

So as many of you know my job has me traveling a fair amount. Well this week I am in Ossining, NY at the world renowned GE Crotonville. I am attending a CFO Day being sponsored by GE. There are approximately 40 customers and their GE reps attending this day. I am here witha customer of mine who is the CFO of Arby's and another CFO that is here with the Franchise Finance group is the CFO of Big o Tires. It started Wednesday evening and will conclude Thursday evening.

Here is a brief description about Crotonville:

GE Crotonville

Today, the focal point of GE's global education program is the 52-acre Crotonville campus nestled in the Hudson Valley of New York. It is here, in classrooms such as the main auditorium called The Pit, that everyone from recently hired college graduates to the Chairman (thousands of people each year) come together to identify opportunities and debate the issues facing GE around the world. They have a handful of classes that can take up to 2-3 weeks so the accommodations they have here are very nice. Everything is "taken care of", including food and beverage, along with a gym, mountain bikes, telephone/long distance and this is for everyone attending, customers and GE employees.

Due to the time it takes to travel here to Ossining, NY I had to get here a day early. That left me with some extra time this afternoon. We decided to go get lunch and explore the area a little. So for lunch we ended up in a town called West Point, and had lunch at a local pub. We then continued on to a town called Montgomery, NY and went by their showroom and took a look at a few of their bikes. There were actually a handful of tourist in taking pictures and signing guest books. We didn't do either, but did have a great afternoon. It is beautiful country especially this time of year.

So this weekend I am going to stay here in NY and spend some time with my brother Peter and visit the town of Saratoga Springs, NY, where his friends Jasper and Beth own a local restaurant. Unfortunately I won't have Alayne and Tia with me, but please now how much I miss you both.

Until next time....
